Aleksey Shuruyev (Director/Founder)

Aleksey started climbing as a teenager, in the Caucasian Mountains near his hometown of Krasnodar, Russia. Since then, he has had 39 years of climbing and mountaineering experience in the Alps, Caucasus, Crimea, Yosemite, U.S Rocky Mountains, Canada, Mexico, New England and Alaska.

Aleksey has put up a dozen first ascents in Alaska, Yosemite, British Columbia, New England and the Caucasus, some of them are featured in American Alpine Journal, Rock and Ice and Climbing magazine. A teacher by education, he has founded International Rock Climbing School for children of all ages where he raised 7 USA champions, 12 USA National team members, 12 of his students reached 5.14 level and 2 students made it to 5.15 level!

In 2018 Aleksey started to coach adults using the methods he developed over his decades of coaching youth programs. All of his adult students have experienced significant improvement in their climbing during their first year of training, including some moving from a 5.10 to 5.12 level!
